Almost every black woman you know that has a relaxer has short neck legnth hair and the same story. “I’ve been relaxed since as long as I can remember, but I remember that day I felt my lovely relaxed hair, it was so long.” My story is no different. It had to be about the 6th grade when I got my first relaxer. A No-Lye Just For Me box kit. Damn I still remember the song. All it took was one of the neighborhood girls on our block to get “relaxed” and it spread like a weed. It was a relaxer epidemic on Lois Lane and I was the second in line. So what was the point behind the creamy nostalgic memories?? My point is that from 6th grade until now, I’ve never known my natural hair texture. So at 24, I am making a change in my life. I want to get to know my Cotton Candy Kinks and give them a chance at life before I slather on another Optimum Care. I don’t hate relaxers, I’m not a Vegan, I just want to know the real me, accept the real me, and adorn the crown I was born with.

We’re on the same page. We go through life not knowing who we are but being the person the world want us to be. I am so looking forward to the journey.
I see way too many clones. Seen it – Did it and Moving on.
